A big perk of running this blog is the (often endless, it seems) submissions I receive. It's impossible to write about all the tracks but I do try my best to give each a listen and try to share as much as I can, and it's always great to find something that I might otherwise not have discovered. Excited to share a new track and video from Common Holly, AKA Montreal-based Brigitte Naggar. New track Joshua Snakes is taken from her upcoming album When I say to you Black Lightning which is due for release on 18th October. I love the moment that the guitar kicks in properly around the two minute mark - what a riff!
The video is an interesting watch too - with director Steven Z taking inspiration from film The Indian In The Cupboard (1995) and showing a miniature Brigitte in a drawer in a teenager's room, helping her to find focus in her dancing. There's a warning on the video itself but just to be sure - there's a lot of flashing in the video which may trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy.
