Mosa Wild are back!!! Genuinely delighted by this news - they're one of my favourite bands of the past couple of years, I absolutely adore the Talking In Circles EP. They're back with Expect Me - exactly the heart-on-sleeve kind of anthem you'd expect from the Kent four-piece. It's taken from an upcoming EP, the poetically titled Zip Your Coat Up For English Weather, due in Spring 2022 via Glassnote Records. 

On the new track, frontman Jim Rubaduka shares "Expect Me was initially written and recorded at my mum and dad's kitchen table in Ashford. We tracked the final version with our friend Ben Baptie at Pool Studios. I think it's the most collaborative studio session we've had. 

It was a joy to have a bunch of our friends come down and bless this record. The song has a very simple and direct message. I wanted the verses to feel like a hymn you know well, and the outro to feel like a hug that you don't want to end."

LISTEN: Mosa Wild - 'Acoustic Sessions' EP

Bringing together my love for indie and acoustic music, one of my favourite musical discoveries of the year have released an acoustic EP with reworkings of two of their tracks and a Sharon Van Etten cover. Mosa Wild have had a crazy year, with a couple of sold out London shows, their EP release, festival appearances and an arena tour with Tame Impala to name just a few highlights. The acoustic EP, which you can listen to in full here is a lovely introduction to the band for new listeners. I completely adore this version of Honey, which you can listen to below. 

If you'd like to hear the band away from the acoustic side of things, they're heading out on tour very soon across the UK as main support for Glassnote Records label mate Jade Bird (who has a track record of brilliant support acts, with Flyte currently on the road with her in the US and Canada.) Those dates run through November, and the band headline Scala in London on 11th March. Full list of shows here.

LISTEN: Mosa Wild - 'Talking In Circles'

I'm a couple of weeks late sharing this one but still need to spread the word and get you all listening to the debut EP from Mosa Wild. The release sees the band bring together singles Night, Smoke and Tides with brand new tracks Faultine and my personal favourite, Honey. It was produced partly by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Bombay Bicycle Club) and partly by James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses, Dry The River) - a pretty strong foundation!

Vocalist Jim Rubaduka describes that the EP is about "all the stuff people deal with again and again" - love, loss, feeling stuck and heartbreak. As a young band revelling in experimenting musically on their first release, Jim goes on to explain that "we don't feel tethered to an instrument in any way. In this setting anything feels like fair game to us." The result is smooth and full of promise, with Jim's vocals pulling everything together superbly - this doesn't feel like a debut release, but as I know that it is, consider me suitably impressed!

The band sold out their first ever headline show at The Waiting Room earlier this year and they're stepping it up with a show at Omeara on 18th September. They're also supporting label-mate Jade Bird on her UK tour in November. Full list of dates and tickets here.

LISTEN: Mosa Wild - 'Tides'

With just two songs released so far, Mosa Wild have already begun to make quite a name for themselves with support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 DJs Annie Mac and Huw Stephens and support slots with Maggie Rogers and Tame Impala. They've just released third single Tides and announced details of their debut EP Talking In Circles. Released via Glassnote Records on 2nd August, the EP brings together the new track with previous singles Night and Smoke, alongside two brand new tracks.

Talking about the new song, the band explain that "this song was written during a time where a lot of my friends (myself included) felt pretty stuck in life. And I guess this song was born from the realisation that you can sometimes free yourself from the quicksand."

After selling out their first headline show at London's The Waiting Room earlier this year, the group have announced a show at Omeara in the capital on 18th September. The show comes just before a run of dates opening for Jade Bird. Full dates and tickets here!

LISTEN: Mosa Wild - 'Night'

Apologies if the posts are coming a little slowly at the moment - today marks eight weeks since our HMV store closed and I'm currently spending most of my days trawling the internet for job listings. One constant that has been helping to keep me sane for the past few weeks is certainly the amount of brilliant new music I've been discovering, and I really wanted to share a March release from Mosa Wild.

A new name to me, the four-piece released their debut single in 2016 - the success of this one track lead to a global deal with Glassnote Records, slots at Reading and Leeds and a support tour across Europe with my current fave, Maggie Rogers. New single Night is taken from their forthcoming debut EP Talking In Circles, due for release via Glassnote this Summer.

Building on the sound they established with debut single Smoke, this track builds until it is almost anthemic, with the cry "help me be strong" which I can easily imagine being repeated back by a large crowd in the live setting. The new track is produced by both Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Bombay Bicycle Club) and James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses, Dry The River) - they're certainly in safe hands! The EP is the result of an intense eight month period where the band retreated to guitarist Alex Stevens' aunt's house in a village "miles from civilisation", working on the tracks which have come together to form the forthcoming EP.

With new tracks under their belts, the band are itching to get out and play live - they play their first ever London headline show at The Waiting Room on 10th April, followed by slots at two of my favourite festivals, The Great Escape (9th May) and Bushstock (15th June.)
